Select Brush Type:
Choose the appropriate Prophy Brush type based on the intended application:
Tapered Type: For polishing occlusal pits and fissures; preparing surfaces for sealant and orthodontic applications.
Flat Type: For polishing tooth surfaces after scaling, especially narrow surfaces.
Cup Type: For polishing wider tooth surfaces after scaling.
Attach to Handpiece:
Securely attach the chosen Prophy Brush type to the dental handpiece or contra-angle handpiece.
Prepare Tooth Surface:
Ensure the tooth surface is clean and dry before beginning the polishing procedure.
Apply Polishing Paste:
Apply a small amount of dental polishing paste to the Prophy Brush or directly onto the tooth surface.
Polishing Technique:
Tapered Type: Place the brush at the desired polishing area and activate the handpiece. Move the brush gently in circular motions to polish occlusal pits and fissures or prepare the tooth surface.
Flat Type: Use the brush to polish tooth surfaces after scaling, particularly in narrow areas. Apply gentle pressure and move the brush in back-and-forth or circular motions.
Cup Type: Utilize the brush to polish wider tooth surfaces after scaling. Apply the brush to the tooth surface and move it in circular motions for effective polishing.
Monitor Pressure: Maintain light to moderate pressure during the polishing procedure to avoid excessive abrasion.
Rinse and Evaluate:
