It is a thermoplastic, green-colored compound that softens at a temperature of about 150-160 degrees Celsius.

Start by selecting the appropriate size and shape of the greenstick compound stick for the area that needs border molding.
Hold the greenstick compound and heat it over a flame (such as a Bunsen burner) until it becomes molten.
Carefully drip or apply the molten greenstick compound onto the border of the custom dental tray
Use your fingers or a modeling instrument to shape the molten greenstick compound to the contours of the oral tissues.
Use a moistened finger or instrument to smooth out any irregularities or air pockets in the border molding compound.
Perform various types of movements to record intraoral soft tissue landmarks.
Once the border molding is completed, allow the compound to cool and harden for a few minutes before removing the impression tray from the mouth.
