Purpose:

3. Shape the cotton: Shape the cotton to fit the socket or site, if needed.
4. Apply the cotton: Gently place the cotton into the socket or site, ensuring direct contact.
5. Apply gentle pressure: Press the cotton firmly onto the site for a few seconds to ensure adhesion.
6. Secure (optional): Use sutures or dressing to secure the cotton, if necessary.
7. Monitor and maintain: Regularly inspect the site and change dressings as needed.
Specific Tips:
1. Use a single layer of cotton for optimal absorption.
2. Avoid packing the cotton too tightly, as this can lead to delayed healing.
3. Ensure the cotton is fully saturated with fluid before applying additional layers.
4. In case of excessive bleeding, apply additional cotton as needed.
5. Document the amount of cotton used and the site of application.
